Job Description

 

McLane Global Manufacturing (MGM) is looking for a Quality Assurance Supervisor to work in a manufacturing environment with the ability to assist management of quality control activities in all phases of, production, employees, laboratory, and warehousing operations.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to Corporate QA Manager.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates Quality Assurance activities at the production facility.
  • Supervise and direct quality assurance technicians who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards. From the Suppliers
  • Audit quality control of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards
  • Responsible for developing proper documentation for quality activities.
  • Follow up with implemented programs (GMPs, Good Hygiene Practices, HACCP, Allergen Control, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Control, Equipment Calibration, etc.) to ensure compliance by all employees and other personnel in the manufacturing facility.
  • Assist in the coordination of testing results involving finished products, raw materials, and packaging components and the appropriate hold and release programs associated with these materials.
  • Oversee the “On Hold” product program, including the status, release, and destruction of “Rejected” products
  • Perform root cause analysis investigations for Customer Complaints, foreign material, and quality related failures
  • Leads preparation of responses and site-level follow up activities for all Third party, Regulatory, Customer and Corporate audits conducted within plant.
  • Implements, trains, and manages processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality prior to delivery.
  • Provides day-to-day, hands-on technical support to Operations, Procurement and Warehousing functions, including problem-solving and trouble-shooting activities as they arise.
  • Communicates with other department supervisors on production, quality, maintenance, logistic issues.
  • Facilitates identification of site-level KPIs and lead associated activities toward resolution.
  • Responsible to reporting quality KPIs (product on hold, first pass quality, SSOP, GMP, customer complaints)
  • Supports QA related responses to customer RFP’s.
  • Ensures that all the associated programs and procedures meet the needs of MGM quality policies as well as US FDA and USDA standards as applicable.
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Minimum experience of 3-5 Years of experience in Food Science or related field Preferred.
  • Added Advantage if you have HACCP, SQF, PCQI, SPC and/or Internal Auditing Certifications.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Dynamics AX, Excel, and Word
  • A good knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices, preferably CFR 21 Part 117, and food safety.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Plant audits and inspections may require lifting of products up to 30 pounds. Inspection often requires work in a production environment including work on a moving line, lifting cartons, and visual inspection.  Corrected vision required for sensory analysis to identify color, clarity.  Warehouse and plant audits also require close and distance vision to judge GMP’s, peripheral vision and depth perception mandatory for safety

Work Schedule:

 

  • Monday through Friday.  Hours are determined by the needs of the department, typically a first shift position; however, working 2nd shift is also expected.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

 

Mathematical Skills 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

 

Computer Skills

  • Ability to use personal computer, food preparation equipment, lab equipment and office communication equipment
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software for department reporting and record keeping

 

Travel

  • Ability to travel in a short notice
