Founded in 1958, M-C McLane International established its business as a dominant player in international trade, global sourcing, and a leading brand management agency for the US supermarket channel.

Global trading remains the company’s core business. We export US Products to world-wide distribution networks. The combined international network and domestic buying power has permitted us to become one of the premier export service providers for the US consumer and food service products. Our access to vast distribution networks on all five continents allows us to provide powerful export consolidations which include stickering and combining mixed loads for delivery world-wide.

Sourcing international products for private label is another core competence. We source quality products at a lower cost, customized for the retailer and often times container direct. It is essential in today’s world for international suppliers to protect the consumer, and thus “protecting your customers.” M-C adheres to strict and rigorous inspections throughout the import process. These include plant inspections, government agency and product inspections within the country of origin, as well as independent testing once the product is in the US. This is a well developed strength and priority for our company.

M-C McLane Company History

Since the middle of the last century, M-C Mclane International has been a driving force in the import, export and international sourcing business. Since its inception, what was formerly known as M-C International was a dominant player in the Pacific trading world. With clients all along the Western Pacific Rim throughout Oceania and the Americas, M-C International had a long heritage of operating in diverse markets, introducing new product lines into new markets and nurturing the relationships of long standing clients.

In 1994 M-C International was purchased by Drayton McLane, Jr., and took on the name M-C McLane International combining the extensive and well established international trading business of MC International with the McLane Family's 102 year legacy as one of Americas largest and most admired food wholesalers. With global operations now spanning Asia, Oceania, the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, the excellent reputations and industry leadership of both companies has proved a dynamic and powerful combination.

The McLane Company, founded in 1894 by Robert McLane, had reached $176 million in sales when Drayton Sr., "passed the torch" of leadership and vision to his son, although he remained very active in the business until well past his 90th birthday. As a third generation entrepreneur and grocery merchant, Mr. Drayton McLane took the helm of his family's then 84 year old grocery wholesaling business as President and CEO in 1978 and grew the company to over $7 billion in sales.

In 1991, Mr. McLane and his "family" of shareholders ceded to the long and increasingly attractive overtures by family friend and American business icon Sam Walton; the McLane Company was purchased by Wal-Mart Stores, the world's largest retail company. Soon thereafter, while remaining a vice-chairman of Wal-Mart and Chairman of McLane Company, Drayton formed the McLane Group with a long-loyal dynamic team of senior executives. Following the group's acquisition of the Houston Astros Baseball Club, other companies were added in rapid succession with a focus on international expansion.

Today, the McLane Group International, with operations in Poland and Portugal combined with the operations of MC McLane International, form a company affiliation with global breadth, perspective and influence that give our clients unprecedented access to world markets. Drayton's long-held vision for totally integrated, global services, broadline exporting and importing, as well as full service food distribution is rapidly taking shape. McLane Group's total commitment to its century-old code of "Honesty, integrity and high business principles" continues to serve customers, suppliers, employees and partners successfully and without compromise, worldwide. Creativity, persistence, quality of workmanship and service levels that consistently exceed the expectations of our customers will remain the building blocks of the McLane Group and MC McLane International for the next one hundred years.
